Once upon a time(its not a fairytale)
|
by MEL. this poem is about how we shouldnt be foolish enough to do too much for our ambitions, and sometimes its best not to aim too high.
There once was a man
who looked every bit the scholar
yet he wasted it all
by workin blue collar
because once upon a time
he'd struck it rich
and then his days soon faded away
slowly, but surely
as the lofty mammon
skulked
- nightmare after nightmare
it became
you see
he'd worshipped something he didn't know at all
it was mere hearsay
but he foolishly did all he could
to satisfy the glittering, glistening
statuette of evil.
it was blood for money
the devil's incarnate
sucked it all up
and not a dollop of it was left
to even stir it up
the curse of the hearsay
dashed hopes and lofty illusions
temporary
the possessions
all gone down the drain.
as the veins within him turned black
there was nothin he could do
workin blue collar was all he got
bcuz sooner or later
money would turn into blood
As overly lofty ambitions often do.
